The inline editing and completion remain excellent — Codeium's latency DNA carries over — and the interface is less intimidating than terminal agents for developers new to agentic tooling.

The competitive context matters: Cursor retains the larger community and faster ecosystem iteration, while Claude Code leads on raw agent capability in the terminal. Windsurf's edge is the integrated experience — agent, editor, terminal, and browser preview in one coherent surface — plus pricing that undercuts Cursor for comparable usage. After the turbulent Google/Cognition acquisition chapter in 2025, the product has stabilized under Cognition's wing.
